The History Of Incendio

Many years ago, a single wolf chanced upon what at first glance was a simple tangle of terrain, a seemingly impassible and untameable landscape. As the lone wolf moved further into the lands, he was overcome by a strange feeling, as if he were being followed. He would pause now and then, looking over his shoulder only to see the terrain he had just crossed. Finally he made it to a large meadow, filled with flowers and thick grass. By the time he had reached it, however, darkness had fallen and the moon had risen high into the dark sky above him.

As his eyes scanned the meadow, soon falling onto a tiny form that was curled up in the center. He approached it slowly, coming to a stop a few feet away. He was surprised and confused by what his eyes were greeted with. There, curled up in the center of the meadow was a small silver wolf pup. But as he got closer, the little form stirred and lifted it's head. The male was shaken by why he was greeted with on the little face. The little wolf pup's eyes were all white, seeming to bore right through him as the small form rose to it's feet, floating slightly above the ground. The pup did not speak, but looked directly at him, seeming to communicate directly with his mind, rather than move it's mouth to speak. /Welcome to Silverlight/ He heard, his ears twitching slightly, although it was his mind that was receiving the message directly. /You have come upon these lands not by chance, but on purpose. It is now up to you to care for Silverlight, to protect it and to honor it. These lands depend on the spirits to flourish, but they are in need of inhabitants. This is your purpose here. Build a pack on these lands. Teach them to respect and honor the spirits and the land and you will prosper. I will visit you again soon./ He heard, and then, with a flash of light, the pup was gone

The male stood there, confused and dumbfounded by what had just occurred. The voice he had heard was not that of a pup, but of a grown wolf. Why had the spirit chosen to reveal itself in such a vulnerable form? He thought deeply about the message he had received, and after much debate, decided that this was all meant to be. Over the next few years he struggled to fulfill the spirit's wish, and the land slowly began to fail. The meadow lost the feeling of awe and wonder, the lake lost the glistening beauty of the sunset. Silverlight was dying. It needed the spirits to survive. But they had abandoned the lands, for they needed a pack, they needed wolves to survive. But none came, none joined the pack, leaving Blitz alone in a dying world, hoping, praying for just a glimpse of the spirit he had first seen in the meadow. But none came, leaving the male frustrated and desperate to bring the spirits back to replenish their homeland.

As time went by, the white wolf gathered a small pack together, a pack that grew quickly and slowly brought the spirits back to Silverlight. But as the pack grew, so did tension between it's members. The pack, however, continued to grow and thrive as the seasons changed from summer to fall, that is, until the snow fell. As winter overtook the lands, the horrible threat of starvation forced the pack to search further and further in their pack lands for food, eventually driving their head hunter, Khalessi, out of the lands altogether in search of prey. The majestic white female, however, was not destined to return from this journey. The winter, although harsh and unforgiving, only proved to bring the pack closer together in this time of hardship and turmoil.

However, along the border loomed a threat to the pack, a rogue male who had set his sights on the pack females. This male wandered the borders for months, finally snagging a pack female and leaving his mark permanently on the pack. However, this relationship was destined to change the pack forever. This rogue, soon come to be known as Casanova, had fallen in love with Laek, the pack female who he had seduced, and had entered the territory one night to see her. This night, of all nights, would change Silverlight and it's pack, forever.

During the winter, the pack head healer, Molly, as well as the head warrior, Chaos, had fallen ill of a terrifying and painful sickness, and had been confined to their dens for months on end. Slowly, the two females regained their strength, although Molly's progress was the slowest and hardest of the two. That night, the same that Casanova trespassed, Molly found herself alone at the lake, staring into the eyes of a hungry black bear who had come out of hibernation for a meal. Pravin, the temporary head warrior at the time of Chaos's illness, had followed the healer to the lake, and distracted the bear in an attempt to allow the painfully weak healer to escape. However, she was not strong enough, and of all wolves, Casanova stepped in to help. He helped her back to the dens, alerted the pack, and dashed away to help Pravin, saving the warrior's life and helping to hold back the beast until the larger pack males could join in the fight.

Then Casanova ran for it, knowing that Inferno, the beta male, had been trailing him for months. But the beta ran him down and attacked him, bringing him back to Blitzen for judgement. But the alpha's opinion clashed with the ideas of the beta, and Inferno challenged Blitzen's authority, leading to a brutal fight that ended with Inferno ultimately leaving the pack. After the expulsion of the beta male, the pack struggled for a month before the first litter of pups was born, and then Blitzen named Pravin beta and Casanova (who never left the pregnant Laek's side) omega. Next Laek's pups were brought into the world by a recovering Molly. The pack was growing strong again, they continued to organize and rely on each other, as they moved forward.

However....
Even as the pack grows stronger, so does an ominous threat outside of it's borders. A small group of lone rogues, gathering together in the banished lands. Could this be the end of a peaceful Silverlight?

A year passed and the rogues proved to hold no threat to the pack. The entire pack lived peacefully, and the pups from both Laek and Tessa grew to be yearlings, reaching their adult size in nearly no time. Time went on, and soon Blitzen took Rayne, the healer, as his mate. Coven, also, took a mate - Molly, the head healer. Eventually both females became pregnant. However, one day, nearly upon their birthing time, tempers rose and a fight broke out between Rayne and Molly.

However, when Molly struck Rayne, Blitzen stepped in to protect his mate. This knocked Molly away, drawing Coven into the fight to defend her. Thing soon got out of hand, and the fight ended with Blitzen on the ground, dying from wounds sustained from the battle. Discovering that he had killed the alpha, Coven fled, with Molly at his side. They could not go far, because of Molly's condition, and stopped at the caves at the edge of the pack territory where they met up with Karbon and Antero and formed the Kachle wolf pack.

The rest of the pack gathered together to bury their deceased alpha at the graveyard. While the pack was at the graveyard, Khalessi appeared and claimed the forest, saying that Blitzen had told her that he wanted her to have it for her own pack. Pravin gave up the Eastern Forest to the white female, and when Sibirskiy claimed the Plains, he gave it over. Then the pack split up, going their four separate ways, forming four different packs. Kachle. Zakruta. Roztok. and Krajina.

As the packs established themselves in their four separate territories, the difficulties of leading a pack fell hard on the newly appointed alphas. In the Kachle pack, Coven's worry of attack and difficulty getting along with others created turmoil and eventually led to his abandonment of the pack, leaving his mate to lead it alone. In Zakruta, Sibirskiy's lack of desire to lead and Tessa's dedication to the pack clashed with each other and led to their break-up, leaving Tessa to lead Zakruta as sole alpha. (Eventually, Sibirskiy was allowed back into the pack as an Omega by Tessa because his sister, Rayne, had given birth to Blitzen's pups) In Krajina, the strains of being a lone alphess were too much and she abandoned the pack, leaving Seska behind to take the alphess position. Pravin also abandoned his pack, Roztok, leaving Ramses to take over the position of leader, who then placed Xerxses as beta male.

Pack In-Character Updates:
Kachle:
Coven abandoned the pack, leaving Molly as sole alpha, as well as head healer and Bleu's mentor. Beta Antero also left the pack, leaving the Beta position open for the time being. Bleu's training is coming along, and fairly soon she will take over the position of Head Healer from Molly. Hallie has quickly proven herself as a talented hunter, and the alphess has moved her into the Head Hunter position for the time being. Meanwhile, Karbon has established himself as a powerful and talented warrior and has done a wonderful job as the sole male of the pack, protecting both the young pups and the females within it. With Molly as the sole leader of Kachle, it wasn't long before the pack was overrun by a new leader, Luther. Backing her over the ice and into the frozen water underneath it. Then he walked away, taking over the Kachle pack for himself, bringing along a young Dakota with him.

Krajina:
The strain of being the lone alphess of a pack was too much for Khalessi, and she abandoned her pack, leaving them without an alpha. With such a small pack, and only one male, Dante, to defend it's borders, the pack lands were soon claimed by another, more experienced wolf named Seska. Slowly, however, the Krajina pack began to dismantle. With both The Roztok and Zakruta packs growing and expanding, it wasn't long before the territory was taken over and the wolves within Krajina forced to join one of the two packs or to leave Incendio forever. This marked the end of Krajina.

Zakruta:
Zakruta is probably the pack that is the most successful at this time. Tessa has done a wonderful job leading the pack by herself, and though her former mate is now once again a member, she has placed him in the role of Omega. Rayne is still the head healer, and with her pups nearly a year old, Flight has had little to do as pup sitter. Beta Casanova was killed saving one of Rayne's pups at the swamp, which lead to his mate's abandonment of the pack.

Roztok:
Alpha Pravin has abandoned his pack, leaving them without a leader, although Xerxses stepped up for a short time. However, with the arrival of his sister, Trilogy, he relinquished the title to Ramses, who placed him as Beta male instead. However, the pack is strong and growing quickly at this time.

Once again, the packs have shifted. Zakruta's dwindling numbers proved to be too much for the pack to handle, and the Kachle and Roztok packs have taken over their lands. (see the new map for details on the new pack lands - the neutral lands now mark the border between the two packs) The remaining members of the Zakruta pack are left to either abandon Incendio entirely, or to join one of the two remaining packs of the valley.
