Hunting Party #1

"Sorry, I was just..wondering the dens." he said, flicking his tail as he watched Fallon step to his side. The young silver wolf nodded to each of the other wolves as they were introduced to him. He continued to mentally say each of their names in his mind, just enough so he could match them to their faces. He turned back to Fallon and lifted his ears. "A-anything we're in for spacificly?" he asked at a whisper, curious to what they were going to be doing, hoping however he didn't seem too much like a pup as he questioned.

"No worries," the female reassured him, "We're just glad you found us!" She padded off after Pravin, nudging KiRae along with her as they traveled again. "I don't think so. Just a normal hunt; the only problem is that prey's been a little scarce recently. So keep your eyes and ears open." Fallon went silent as Pravin's demeanor became more focused, and she followed suit. Her smile never left her face, though. It'd been so long since a hunting party had gone out, and she relished nothing more than being a part of a group like this. It was like the pack was really a pack, now that everyone was getting to know each other.

Pravin led the group for quite a while, leading them north through the woods. They didn't encounter much, other than sticks and snow. The large wolf frowned as they arrived to the northern area of the lands. He was about to turn them around when he sensed something. He froze, narrowing his eyes and perking up his ears. He could hear them before he smelled them. Both before he saw them. He was the only one in open area at the time and he back pedaled into cover of the woods.
Up ahead, a herd was slowly down from a run, it seemed. They seem scrambled and confused. Pravin could only assume that the other group had ran the herd out. And yet, without knowing it, the herd ran straight into another hunt. There was no longer a sick buck, but Pravin pointed out the smallest doe to the others. He watched for a moment as the herd stopped to regather. The doe was near the back and couldn't be too hard to take down. Assuming KiRae was speedy, he relayed Fallon's plan back to them again, in a light whisper. Fallon and KiRae would spook the herd a second time. Pravin and Sibirskiy would await the time to come and attack. He pointed out an area for Fallon to leap out from, somewhat a ways from Pravin's spot.

Fallon backed up quickly to avoid getting trampled by Pravin as he practically jumped back into the trees. She stepped up curiously beside him and tilted her head, ears pricking when she caught sight of the herd.

Intently, she nodded as Pravin recapped the plan and then directed her and KiRae their part. Silently, the female nodded a confirmation to the leader and then motioned with her head for KiRae to follow her to the position Pravin pointed out. Crouching, Fallon inched to her position and froze, worried that even the shifting of snow underneath a stray paw would spook the already riled herd and lose their chance. She held her position patiently and seemingly forever as the herd trampled past. Finally, the doe brought up the rear and passed. With a nod to KiRae to drive the doe forward, Fallon blazed out of her hiding spot and rounded on the flank of the deer, cutting it off from the herd that immediately took flight and scattered. But the doe was successfully separated and running right where they intended, with the speedy wolves right on her heels.

Pravin waited as Fallon got into position. As they waited, he told Sibirskiy to latch on right after him, although Pravin was almost sure he could find the right bite. The doe wasn't too bad, and if she put up a fight, they had the four together. He let out a relieved sigh as Fallon perfectly executed the scare. The doe came flying towards their position and Pravin counted to himself. 1. 2. By 3 he had began to bound up. 4. 5. By 6 he had latched onto the doe sideways, getting close enough on her neck to kill her. By 9, the doe was slowed down just by his weight, and any help he was getting from Sibirskiy was largely appreciated. By 12, the doe was still underneath him. She hadn't put up much of a fight, he noted. As if she knew she had no chance. He dropped her to the ground and gave a growl. Whatever help he had gained from the other three wolves was acknowledged by a nod on Pravin's part. "Done well, Fallon."

Fallon had managed to stay close enough to the doe that at Pravin's strike, the wolfess was able to use that sudden and quick slowing down of the doe to leap up from behind and tear into the flank and hang on, hoping to wear out the doe with blood loss and extra weight enough to give Pravin the time to make the kill. He apparently didn't need much time at all. With all the wolves working together and with Pravin's well-aimed and efficient bite, the doe was soon dead.

Panting but grinning with the flow of adrenaline, Fallon walked slowly over to Pravin's side and examined his attack, nodding in approval. She had not expected that level of skill from him, though she realized now that there had been no reason to think he couldn't be a good hunter, too. "Nice job to you, too," she replied with a nod and a tone that revealed her impressed surprise. The wolfess grinned over at her friends Sib and KiRae as well, proud of her fellow hunters. Neither of them had been kidding when they said they were great (Sib even lived up to his grand declarations). "Now to get this home..."

Pravin looked sideways at Fallon as he noted the surprise in her voice. He didn't think much of it and forgot when Fallon mentioned getting it home. "Shouldn't be to hard. She's small. Why don't we just drag her? We can't be too far from center dens." At that, Pravin picked the doe up by the shoulder and begun to drag by himself. The doe moved easily through thr snow with just his strength. He knew they'd be home quick when the other three picked it up.
