Pravin's ears twitched, and his tail moved ever so slightly. He raised his eye lids slowly, blinking and taking in the sight before his eyes. He was in the den area of the Roztok pack, a place he almost forgot in his mountainous trek. So it wasn't a dream... He thought to himself, thinking back on his re-acceptance into the pack. Once he was fully awake from his little nap, he quickly stood up, shaking his already matted fur, losing any loose dirt that piled up in his sleep. He stretched, yawning and realizing just how tired he had been. He hadn't had a good night's sleep in a long time, always afraid that he would be jumped by the animals of the wild, afraid that he'd be dead in his slumber.

He pointed himself towards the lake, thinking he might enjoy a nice swim, and maybe even a bit of hunting on his own. He began at a slow walk, but his limp disappeared as he sped up into a gallop. He recognized very old scents from his past, and flew through every new scent. He would learn those scents, but there was no one around right now, he had time to enjoy himself. He let himself forget everything for a moment, and ran. He ran and he dodged every tree and root, trying not to injure himself. The breeze felt great on his old pelt, and a hint of a smile had appeared on his face.

The lake appeared in his sight and he let himself splash in the shallow waters, refreshing himself. Slowing down to a stop not far from shore, he dipped his muzzle down and took large gulps of water to accommodate his recent burst of energy. Fulfilled, he slowly walked out of the lake. Once onto dry land, he shook himself, spraying small drops of water in every direction. Now, Pravin would hunt. But what and where? He stood there for a moment, wondering and deciding.

She'd only recently been accepted into the pack, and she now held the rank of Hunter, something that she prided herself in her ability to do. When Alpha Ramses had asked her whether she wanted the rank of Warrior or Hunter, she hadn't really needed much time to think it over. She'd accepted the rank of Hunter and that was that. Now she found herself exploring her new home, and she wasn't about to let herself miss a thing. She stopped often to familiarize herself with the scents of the land, most of which belonged to the alpha and beta, Ramses and Xerxses. She had yet to meet the Beta, or anyone else in the pack, but as she neared the pack dens, and the Sunset Lake, more scents filled her nose.

This was the pack camp, and that was made painfully clear by the increased number of scents that filled her nose. They each belonged to a different wolf, and though she tried, she wasn't exactly able to differentiate the smells quite yet. Maybe after she'd met the other members, but for now, it was all a jumbled mess of wolf-pack scent. It was her first day in the lands, so she let it slide for now, but instead of heading right into camp, she paused and looked back at the trees in the direction of the Sunset Lake. She was hungry, and it wouldn't hurt to bring her new pack some meat upon her first arrival, so she turned herself, heading off into the trees to hunt.

It wasn't long before she came upon another wolf's scent, bearing the faintest hints of the pack she now belonged to. He smelled like the Alpha to some extent, which meant that if he were in the pack lands, and had met the alpha, he was likely a member just like herself. So she continued moving, her typically anti-social attitude flaring up as she did her best to fight it. She needed to at least get to know her pack to some extent. She didn't want them all hating her, after all. Plus, hunting with another, which is what it seemed like this male was out her to do from his trail, would be much easier than hunting alone. Soon enough the large male came into view, and she slowed her pace, coming to a stop several feet from him. "Hello there." She said, her head tilting slightly and her ears perking, knowing that this male was either a warrior or a hunter, and therefore not higher ranking than herself, so no submission was necessary at this point.

Pravin let himself think, finally coming to a decision that he would venture into the forest and catch the first thing that moved. Satisfied with his choice, he lifted a paw off the ground to step off, but he stopped when a new scent came to his noise. It wasn't long before a wolf appeared that matched the scent. His paw touched the ground it had just been on, and he nodded to the female. Before vocally replying to her, he quickly observed her form. She was small, much smaller than he was. She was coated in white, and only white. She looked calm and relaxed. She was obviously a pack member; she smelled of the alpha, but only lightly. Perhaps she was like him, and was new. Except in her case, she was probably brand new.

"Hello." He gave her another respectful nod. She would be the first of the pack that he would meet, aside from the alpha. He knew he needed a good first impression, but how could he do that? There wasn't much to his personality as far as he could see. And he was worried he might say something offensive, as he did quite often by mistake.

But what more could he do here, but talk? There was no harm in at least introducing himself to the female. Pravin sat back on the dirt, holding a calm, but not submissive, posture. He also wasn't dominating, and he tried not to look so large, slouching and relaxing himself. "I am Pravin." He was about to say his rank and role in this pack, but he had yet to decide if he wanted to stick with being a warrior, or to become a hunter.

The white female sat down slowly as the male did, her tail curling lightly around her dainty paws and her blue eyes studying him carefully. He was larger, much larger than herself, but he didn't really seem threatening at all. He seemed to be older, and from the way he behaved, being new like herself, it seemed like he had been here before. Where she would glance around every once in a while at the still unknown surroundings, he focused simply on her, seeming bored and familiar with the territory that he was in. Her head tilted slightly as she studied his movements and actions, and when he finally introduced himself, she let herself smile slightly.

She'd never really been one for small-talk, and she wasn't really into pleasantries, so she kept her response simple and sweet. "I'm Victoria, the pack's newest hunter, I believe." That is, unless the alpha had accepted someone right after her, which was highly unlikely. She remained sitting where she was, inhaling deeply as her ears perked a bit more at the sound of a blue bird flying by. "I came out here to hunt, and I caught your scent. Would you like to join me? Maybe the two of us could bring back more suitable food for the pack than a few simple hares or mice." She said softly, her voice feminine and sweet, yet holding a confident and determined tone. She wasn't one to waste time or play games, that was for sure. She came out here to hunt, and meeting another pack member was nice, but it was not her purpose for being away from camp. Socializing could come later, if ever. But right now, she wanted to hunt.

The female was like the alpha; she had gone straight to the point. Pravin was sort of coming to appreciate that kind of behaviour in his comrades, liking that he might not have to talk as much as he used to. The other introduced herself as Victoria, and asked him to hunt with her. He might have rejected her invitation if he hadn't already been planning to hunt by himself. But seeing as it was his current mission, he nodded to the white wolf. "I was about to head out myself." He raised himself from the sitting position and looked into the forest. "Maybe it might be good for us to bring back at least a decent catch, as it seems we're the newest arrivals around here." He began walking ahead, giving Victoria a subtle signal to follow him.

She really was brand new; he could tell. Where Pravin knew the land, the female looked around in curiosity. She was practically lost, and perhaps could use this hunting trip to her own advantage. Oh well, he would see how she responded to the land in no time.

The red wolf soon focused on the hunt. He hadn't really hunted in a long time, having mostly caught small prey for himself as snacks, and feeding on the leftovers of bears and other creatures. But today he would get to hunt, and not only for himself but for his pack, once more. His tail hung relaxed trailing behind him as he lowered his head towards the ground, slowly examining the grounds for tracks. He maneuvered around every root and bump gracefully, or at least as graceful as one could be with a limp. His ears stuck up, both waiting for some sort of sign from prey, and to make sure that Victoria was still with him.

Not very interested in talking, the female nodded, heading out after him as she let him lead the hunt. Leading or following, it didn't matter to her right now, she mostly just wanted to hunt. She followed him carefully, ears perked and nose lowered, searching for any signs of prey nearby. When he looked back at her, she lifted her head, pinning her ears back and watching him silently as if to say 'do you really think I can't keep up with you?', but kept her mouth shut for the time being. When he turned back around, her ears went back up and her nose returned to the ground, once again searching for prey.

It wasn't too long before she lifted her head and stopped, catching the faintest hints of a small deer herd on some tracks that had been left earlier that day. They weren't exactly nearby now, but they could follow the tracks and eventually find the deer, that is, unless the male she now followed wanted to continue searching aimlessly for something to fall right into their paws. "There's some tracks that lead off this way. They're an hour or two old, but we could follow them to the herd." She said softly, lifting her head and tilting it slightly as she waited for his response. The path led around the lake, and the herd was likely stopping for a drink or somewhere near the water at this point. But she'd wait for him to respond before going anywhere, mostly because he knew the lands better than she did at this point.

Pravin was surprised when Victoria piped up and said that she had seen some tracks. He turned around and looked to where she was pointing to. There they were, recent tracks of the herd. How on earth did I miss that? Pravin almost questioned himself, but he looked to the female, and then looked to where the tracks were headed. They were headed to the lake, but on a different shore than they had been on. If they followed the tracks, they would most likely catch the herd getting a drink, or even resting. The lake was commonly a resting place for many of the creatures around here; it couldn't hurt to assume that the herd had stopped there.

Pravin nodded, agreeing that they should go in that direction. They should follow the tracks as best they could. He looked to Victoria, "Let's do so then. Would you like to take the lead?" He would let the female take the lead for this one. Not only because she had seen the tracks, but Pravin also wanted to see how the white wolf hunted. He wanted to see how she acted, and how she tracked. He wanted to make sure that he worked well with her so that they could indeed bring something back to the dens.

She was a bit surprised when the male wolf stopped and asked her if she wanted to lead, and though it took her a moment to collect herself and recover, she nodded her head yes and headed off in the direction that the trail led. Her nose lowered to the ground as she followed their scent, looking up every once in a while to see if the herd was in sight before lowering her head once more. Luckily, it didn't take long for them to catch up with the herd, and she stopped slowly as they came into view, crouching carefully in the underbrush so that she wouldn't be seen. It would be easier for the reddish male to hide his coat in the foliage that now surrounded them, but she was white, making it a bit harder for her to keep from being seen.

But she was smaller than him, which helped her a bit, so she managed to keep herself hidden, crouching and observing the herd before starting to form a decision as to what she would do. There were a few young deer in the herd, a baby or two, and a handful of does. She didn't even bother considering the bucks as targets, as they'd likely hurt her or worse. Eventually, she managed to pick out a rather small newborn that had wandered slightly away from it's mother and the herd. Not wanting to speak and alert the herd of their presence, she glanced back at Pravin and nodded her head in the direction of the helpless animal, signalling that she'd chosen a target. Now they'd need to separate it further from the herd and one of them would have to take it down.

Pravin was glad when Victoria took the lead, and he followed. He kept his head low, tracking the scents right behind the female. As soon as the herd appeared in sight, he crouched down and began to move slowly. And when the white wolf stopped, he crawled softly and slowly so he could stand beside her. His eyes examined the herd, trying to spot any weaknesses in the herd. There had younger ones with them, and many does. The bucks were out of question, considering this was a two wolf hunting group, but the others did leave quite the opportunity for the pair of wolves. He glanced over to Victoria when she nodded to one of the smaller fawns, signalling it as their new target. He followed her view to the younger one, and noted how separated it was, even if just a little bit.

He nodded, agreeing on the target. There was no question on who would get what job in this small hunt. This was the perfect position for Victoria to run out from and break the baby off from the herd completely. But Pravin knew he would have to move in order to intercept it, and take it down. He gave her a look that said 'Stay here,' and he carefully made his way to the other side of the forest edge, right where he thought the fawn might run to. He got to a position where he could see Victoria, and she could see him. He made eye contact and nodded to tell her he was ready. Hopefully, she understood what plan he had in mind.

The female had been waited ever since she'd met the large male to see what kind of a hunter he was, and now she saw it. They seemed to work perfectly together, just like a pack's hunters should. The silent signals were clear and concise, and there was no questioning on either end. They were both equals here, and as she'd chosen the target, he chose the method in which to bring it down. She nodded mutely as he moved himself to a new position, keeping careful tabs on the target as she kept an eye out for his form to reappear in her sights. When he did, she nodded in response to the eye contact as well to signal that she was ready.

Then, just like a precision machine, the two wolves began their hunt. Victoria waited until the deer nearest to the target lowered their heads to graze, and then leaped from the brush and dashed towards them. The herd panicked, naturally, and bolted in every direction. But her eyes were on the target, carefully observing the adults as well, knowing better than to miss an oncoming attack from a much too brave buck or angry mother. But from what she could see, they were all running, and she bolted forward, easily cutting the baby from the herd as it made a frantic line for it's mother. It was too late, and it skidded to a stop and ran in Pravin's direction instead as she cut it off, bounding after it and herding it in the male wolf's direction, waiting for him to make his move and end the hunt.

Pravin stood crouched, watching the fawn intently, and glancing at Victoria out of the corner of his eye. After a short moment, she saw him and nodded; she was ready. She took off into the herd, scattering them in different directions. Pravin kept his focus on the fawn, and began counting in his head. The bigger deer of the herd ran off into the opposite direction, but his hunting partner had successfully guided the little one towards Pravin. No longer afraid of being rammed in the side by a pair of hooves or some antlers, he prepared himself for the kill.

The small deer ran his way, a terrified look on it's face with a speedy hunter catching up. From here, things seemed to slow down just a bit. The red wolf crouched there, waiting for the perfect time of execution. The fawn kept getting closer and closer, and when it passed Pravin, the large wolf pounced. His fur flew with him, and his mouth was wide open. The flash of his teeth disappeared quickly when he dug them into the flesh of the deer. But as soon as he felt the thick skin around his teeth, he knew he had missed the killing shot. Luckily, this hide belonged to a relatively small creature, and it's knees buckled under the weight of the great wolf. Pravin pushed the small deer into the ground, holding it's neck down with his teeth. The deer tried to struggle, but stopped as it realized that it wouldn't help. Still holding the deer's neck, blood staining his teeth and spilling onto the dirt below, Pravin looked to Victoria, inviting her to have the killing shot.

The white female had executed her part in the hunt perfectly, and as the deer dashed past the hiding red male, she let her pace slow slightly. The hunt was up to him now, and she watched him leap forward, sinking his teeth into the helpless animal and take it down. But, it was plain to see that he'd missed his mark, an act that caused the white female's ears to pin back slightly in annoyance before she controlled herself and lunged in quickly to finish off the small deer that he'd pinned to the ground. She then stepped back, licking her lips as they were now covered in fresh blood, resisting the urge to eat her fill then and there. No, this kill was for the pack, not for herself. She'd eaten enough recently, and though she knew they'd be going out hunting as a pack soon, the extra food couldn't hurt.

Not to mention they had an injured female at the camp, the beta's sister. She could always use the fresh meat, especially with her paw healing slowly. So, without a word to the larger wolf that she had hunted with, she picked up the the deer in her jaws, tearing it in half and picking up the smaller of the two parts. She highly doubted that he'd mind carrying the larger portion, as he was bigger and stronger than her, so she didn't waste any time asking his opinion on the matter. Instead, she turned away, carrying her part back to camp and letting herself fall into a pace that he could easily keep up with should he decide to follow her back. What he did with his half was up to him, but she doubted he was one of those wolves that would just hunt for himself. So, she wouldn't be surprised if he joined her in her walk back to the camp storage with his half as well.

-Oh gosh, I could have sworn that I replied to this! My bad!-

Pravin let Victoria kill the deer, and he released it from his teeth, growling softly, slightly angry at himself for missing the killing shot by so little. But there wasn't much that he could do about it now, and the white wolf beside him hadn't said anything yet either. Instead, she just tore up the kill and began to bring her half to camp. He watched her for a moment, then bent down to pick up the bigger part. He bit his teeth into it and lifted it up into the air, turning on his feet and walking to catch up to the white female. He tried fairly hard to conceal his limp, and he did remarkably well, as he fell into step with Victoria. They walked in silence, and Pravin was okay with that. He had already assumed from this one encounter that the female was just as quiet as he was. That she would not speak unless needed. So they made the trip to the dens in silence, and Pravin made a bee line towards the storage den. He dropped his part in front of the opening, and walked into the den, pulling the food inside with him. After making sure that Victoria got her part in as well, he ripped a small portion from their kill, and walked outside. He made his way to his old position beside the rock and slowly dropped to the ground. Pravin looked around, and after seeing who was in the area, he ate the food. The freshness of the blood was satisfying. This hunt had been successful, he knew.
